  • Mary E. Scroggins (1916–1964) was a popular teacher at Charles Eliot Elementary School and an influential member of the Denver Harbor community. The school that bears her name was built in 1968.
  • Nestled in Houston’s vibrant and historic Denver Harbor neighborhood, Scroggins Elementary is a Fine Arts Magnet School committed to academic excellence and creative expression. As a Title I campus, Scroggins serves a diverse and economically disadvantaged student body, with 98% of students qualifying for support services. With a strong focus on the arts, community engagement, and student success, Scroggins Elementary continues to be a beacon of opportunity and growth for families in the East End.
