Mary E. Scroggins (1916–1964) was a popular teacher at Charles Eliot Elementary School and an influential member of the Denver Harbor community. The school that bears her name was built in 1968.
Nestled in Houston’s vibrant and historic Denver Harbor neighborhood, Scroggins Elementary is a Fine Arts Magnet School committed to academic excellence and creative expression. As a Title I campus, Scroggins serves a diverse and economically disadvantaged student body, with 98% of students qualifying for support services. With a strong focus on the arts, community engagement, and student success, Scroggins Elementary continues to be a beacon of opportunity and growth for families in the East End.
